January’s Art of the Month:
“Catching Peace”
by Cathy Dunn
Watercolorist Cathy Dunn was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. After a long career teaching mathematics in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Dunn settled just outside of Nashville, Tennessee a few years ago. Discovering her passion for painting after retiring and taking some watercolor painting classes, she is now continuing her formal art education in the classroom and through self-study.
Though she dabbles in many mediums, Dunn’s passion is representational watercolor painting. While her subject matter varies from landscape to portrait and everything in between, Dunn’s style has a calm serenity and vibrant but soft color palette that unifies her body of work and gives the viewer a sense of peace.
